Site Conditions & Important Information
- Secure Installation – Porcelain paving must be firmly bonded to the bedding mortar. For best results, use Azpects EASYPrime during installation.
- Proper Drainage – The bedding mortar must be free-draining to allow activation water to escape. Once set, the jointing compound becomes non-permeable.
- Recommended Mortar Mix – Use a 6:1 ratio of sharp sand to Cement to create a stable bedding layer.
- Ensure Proper Joint Integrity – Compaction is crucial when using EASYJoint Porcelain.
- Vibration Compaction Recommended – If unavailable, use hand tamping with a rubber mallet, ensuring the joints are fully compacted.
- Avoid Over-Compaction – Excessive pressure can reduce water absorption, affecting the compound’s activation.
- Recessed Jointing – A recessed joint is necessary to prevent premature degradation.
Weather Conditions
- Temperature Requirements – The air and paving surface should be above 10ºC (50ºF) during application.
- Drying Time – To ensure strong cohesion and long-term resistance, the jointing sand must completely dry before rain exposure (typically 24–48 hours). Cold or humid weather may extend the drying period.
Joint Dimensions
- Width: Minimum 3mm, maximum 13mm
- Depth: Minimum 19mm
Additional Application Guidelines
- 🚫 Drainage is Key – Water must drain through to the sub-base; standing water can compromise the product’s performance.
- 🚫 Do Not Mix – Avoid mixing with cement, sand, or any other materials.
- 🚫 Not Suitable for Constantly Wet Areas – Avoid using in areas prone to continuous moisture.
- 🚫 Avoid Asphalt/Tarmac – Do not sweep over these surfaces.
- 🚫 Special Care for Natural Stone – If applying on natural stone, ensure the surface is completely dry to prevent staining.
- 🚫 Cleaning & Sealing Precautions – Allow seven days after installation before cleaning or sealing. Avoid high-pressure washing for the first 30 days.
