Account and Credit Controller

Creativity and a passion for numbers don’t always go hand in hand, but GDT’s Account and Credit Controller Julie Drage breaks the mould in more ways than one.

From a young age Julie spent many years living in pubs with her parents which saw her helping out with the finances, socialising with customers and sewing the seed for maybe working in accounts one day in the future.

Following a chance opportunity to provide holiday cover in 2013, Julie picked up the accountancy support for GDT – a role she instantly loved. Before long she began working for them long term and is now one of the company’s longest serving employees and a great friend to George Davies.

From managing invoices, chasing payments and updating online systems, to general accounts and bookkeeping, Julie keeps GDT’s finances on track.

Alongside her role at GDT, Julie and her partner Chris run a popular kids entertainment and events business which keeps her weekends busy and allows her to channel her creativity through a range of skills including face painting and balloon modelling.

Before meeting her partner and setting up their business, Julie worked in a variety of roles which took her all around the world, meeting new people and learning new skills. From customer service manager to air hostess and publican – you’ll be hard pushed to meet anyone with a more interesting career history.

With all this experience brings a wealth of knowledge, professionalism and exceptional customer service skills, which make Julie a wonderful asset to the George Davies Turf family.

Julie says, “I’ve been lucky to have been able to see the GDT team grow from just a handful of staff to the large award-winning team they are now, and I’ve become great friends with everyone too.

“It’s a nice atmosphere, very open and if anyone ever has a problem they can go straight to  George as he is incredibly approachable. If you’re ambitious, it’s a great company to be in as you’re supported and paid well and there is so much scope for developing your career.”

When Julie isn’t crunching numbers or painting faces, she loves to travel with her partner Chris and discover new places and they have already completed a dream American road trip.

Not surprisingly, as our new Account and Credit Controller, Julie also loves meeting new people, socialising and organising events which she gets to do each week at their local club alongside her role as captain of the Crib team.
