Our turf supplier is based in North Lincolnshire and Yorkshire grows in excess of 2,000 acres of fully cultivated turf grown on the most free draining sandy soils in the country. The main benefit of growing turf on coarse sand rootzones is that it will transplant onto other soil types with no problem at all and the turf will root very fast. The turf is also light, strong and can be harvested throughout the year due to the well drained fields. Once seen on site, the quality of the turf speaks for itself and will provide a very lush dense sward which if well watered and maintained will enhance any new development.
Our delivery network has also been tailored to suit house developers. As your plots and gardens are reduced in size, the days of having full artic lorries of turf delivered to site are long gone. That is why we have all the turf delivered to our yards at Olney & St Albans and we re-distribute the turf on our own vehicle in smaller amounts so that you get small amounts of fresh turf when you want it in what we call George Davies Turf Country.
Not only that, our lorries have been specifically designed with new building sites in mind and as such our 32 tonne rigid lorries that will carry up to 960m2 of turf have been fitted with rear steer axles so we can manoeuvre into the tightest of sites without damaging the kerbs. They are also fitted with rear view and side view cameras to ensure safety of your personnel on site is maintained at all times, especially when reversing.
As the demands on your forklift trucks are never ending we carry our own to make our life and your life easier. The forklift is a rough terrain telescopic 2.5 tonne machine that is fully certificated and operated by trained drivers. As long as we know the plot numbers where you require the turf we can place it there for you at no extra cost.
