This year, George Davies became the proud new owner of Landscape Supplies Hert, formally St Albans Stone. This enables us to provide an entire portfolio of landscaping materials for landscapers, developers and domestic gardeners!
When it comes to landscaping and decorating our gardens, we naturally jump to grass, flowerbeds, potted plants and maybe a seating area – it’s pretty standard! But with our new range of stylish stones, charming cobbles, perfect paving, pebbles, chippings and gravel, there are so many ways to shape your garden and put your stamp on it.
Paving slabs are a simple way to transform your outdoor space. Although available in different sizes, they tend to be sold in traditional squares or rectangles, making them easy to lay and cover large areas.
But we think stone paving doesn’t receive the kudos it deserves! The right stone can bring both the authentic appearance and practical qualities of natural stone, making it a fantastic focal point for your landscaping project.
What Are The Different Types Of Paving?
We offer a vast range of paving slabs, each boasting a variety of colours, sizes and attributes. Here are some of our most popular:
Atlantic – an elegant, silver-grey sandstone, perfect for any size or style of garden.
Mint Fossil – our lightest riven sandstone commonly used for patios, paths and driveways.
Black Limestone – a striking and glamorous stone ideal for contemporary spaces.
Silver Grey Granite – a subtle paving stone that blends into most garden styles.
Golden Buff – with a mix of yellows, oranges and browns, enjoy a fresh, bright stone floor.
Cloister – a sturdy sandstone with a clean cut or sawn and honed finish.
Porcelain – this pristine stone offers sleek elegance and shine, elevating any space.
Autumn Brown – a mix of light and dark brown slabs for a classic courtyard finish.
The beauty of using decorative stones in your outdoor space is that they’re often available in several sizes and colours to fit any shape, space and style of garden.
What Are The Different Types Of Decorative Stones?
From dramatic slate to striking black basalt and warming Cotswold, stones can be used in various ways to add personality and texture to your garden design. Our popular decorative stones include:
Black Ice – made from grey marble for a smooth, elegant finish to your landscaping project.
Black Basalt – a stylish volcanic rock that provides durability, beauty and fantastic drainage.
Slate Chippings – a contrasting texture to add depth, colour and sustainability to your garden.
Cotswold Chippings – soft, cream-coloured stones to bring countryside charm to your backyard
Gabion Stone – designed purposely to fit your gabion baskets to create walls, seats and structures.
Koala Grey – a classic mix of grey-coloured stones to decorate flowerbeds, pots, ponds and more.
Moon Stone – create a sense of zen as these mixed grey stones reflect the sun and moonlight.
Onyx Chippings – a popular landscaper choice for ground cover, flowerbed topping, and filling spaces.
Tango Mix – our most colourful mix of stones, with bright oranges, white, and grey stones.
Walling – choose mint fossil or mixed brown walling blocks for a secure and timeless walled feature.
For a classic, charming courtyard feel, you can’t go wrong with our range of cobble setts. We’ve used two iconic types of stones for our cobbles, each offering a unique look with the strength, resilience and durability of natural stone.
Limestone—calibrated to 50mm, our Black Limestone Cobbles offer a uniform and professional look to your cobbled feature. With a hand-cut and tumbled or sawn edge, you can find the right cobble to suit your style.
Sandstone Cobbles — Our Atlantic Sandstone Cobble setts provide effective, practical, and aesthetically pleasing results when creating paths, courtyards, and driveways.
We all know that finishing touches make all the difference. The same is true when it comes to using stone products. Effective grouting between your stones helps secure them in place, suppresses weeds, and provides a sleek, professional finish.
Setting your paving slabs or cobbles into place couldn’t be easier with the Azpect EasyJoint joint filler. Simply combine the mixture with water and sweep between the gaps in your stones. Available in various base colours, it’s suitable for any stoned area. If there’s some leftover, seal it up and save it for next time!
Landscapers and gardeners are big fans of stone materials for exterior projects, Not only for their versatility but also for their durability, reliability and strength. They can be used almost anywhere within your outdoor space, including:
When we say aggregate in landscaping, you might automatically think of coarse, grainy material used to pad out or level uneven areas. It might also be used to mix concrete and screed to create a solid, robust subbase.
Although George Davies offers these types of aggregate, we also provide a range of aggregates that can be used for more decorative or practical purposes, such as ground cover, soil protection, or pathways.
Gravel
We supply traditional garden gravel in sizes from 4mm to 40mm, so you can choose your preferred size of gravel stones to meet your requirements. For example, larger gravel stones may be better suited to wider ground cover or compacted to create a driveway. Smaller gravel stones would be better suited for decorating potted plants, forming borders, or aiding water drainage to your soil.
If you want all the natural benefits of gravel, such as strength, durability and weather resistance, but you’re not a fan of the classic, brown-coloured stones, you’re in luck! At Geroge Davies, we offer both Panda and Polar White Gravel, which provide more black, white and grey stones for a more contemporary look.
Garden Pebbles
We supply beautiful Scottish Beach Pebbles, bringing them from the stunning Northern coastline directly to your back garden. We love the wave-chiselled smoothness and earthy colouring of these pebbles. Because they’re available in a range of sizes from 4mm to 200mm, they can be used anywhere in your garden: topping plant pots, packing our flower beds, around water features or set as a walkway.
Sharp Sand
This premium material offers multiple benefits for landscaping and gardening tasks. Available as a loose or bagged product, our Sharp Sand has a gritty texture, perfect for mixing cement or screed to lay a robust, strong, and long-lasting foundation for garden structures or paving slabs.
Aggregate is a must-have for any professional landscaper, builder and professional gardener. For landscaping purposes, aggregate can be used to:
For garden design, aggregates such as gravel and pebbles can be used to:
